While visiting Washington D.C. on December 16, 2009, Patricia Lighter signed the Americans for Tax Reform Taxpayer Protection Pledge. The Pledge commits signers to “oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses … and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.”
Commenting on Patricia's signing of the Pledge, ATR President Grover Norquist said the following:
“By signing the Pledge, Patricia Lightner demonstrates that she understands the problems of hard-working taxpayers nationwide, but especially the taxpayers in Kansas’ 3rd Congressional district."

Following her signing of the ATR Pledge, Patricia Lightner issued the following statement:
"I'm going to Washington to fight for the taxpayer, and that means holding the line on taxes. If we're going to be serious about stimulating the economy and job creation, that starts with stopping any and all efforts to increase taxes. We need men and women in Washington who believe that money sent to Washington belongs to the people, not the government. As a member of Congress, it will be one of my foremost duties to protect the taxpayer at every turn, and that is why I am proud to have signed the Americans for Tax Reform pledge."
Patricia Lightner is a Republican running in the 3rd District of Kansas. The primary is August 3.
