Patricia Lightner Reacts to Jordan Announcement
Praises Long-Time Leadership of State Senator; Asks Supporters to join her Campaign

Olathe, Kan. - Former State Rep. Patricia Lightner, Republican candidate for Congress in the 3rd District of Kansas, released the following statement this morning in reaction to the news that State Senator Nick Jordan would be dropping out of the race for Congress.

"Senator Nick Jordan has been a tremendous leader within our community for almost 15 years, representing Shawnee and Lenexa for more than a decade. He has always defended life and marriage, and represents the good side of politics - always gracious, always kind, and always a stand up individual. I know that making a decision to enter or leave a race is never easy, and I respect his decision today. I wish Nick Jordan the very best," said Lightner.

She further asked that supporters of Nick Jordan join her campaign.

"I humbly ask those who have been backing Nick Jordan to join my campaign. As a pro-life, pro-liberty, pro-marriage conservative with both legislative and private sector experience, I believe I am best suited to win the primary and defeat Stephene Moore in November. With a little more than 80 days until voting begins, I need your support today," said Lightner.

Lightner concluded by noting Jordan's exit gives voters a clear choice for both the primary and the general.

"I am now the one major candidate who has been consistently advocating for conservative principles since last summer and been challenging what is now the 'Moore family business' from the get go. I offer a clear choice for voters who want a Member of Congress who will support the right to life, defend marriage, advocate for pro-growth policies, stand up for their liberty, and uphold the Constitution. In a year as vital to our country as 2010, now is the time for action and I urge all conservatives to unify behind my campaign today."
