Olathe, Kan. - Patricia Lightner, Republican candidate for Congress in the 3rd District
of Kansas, today announced her support for the Mt.
Vernon Statement, which was signed on February 17 by a coalition of 80
conservative leaders at a ceremony near Washington.
The Mount Vernon Statement is a defining statement of
conservative beliefs, values and principles penned by a broad coalition of
conservative leaders representing a wide spectrum of the movement including
fiscal, social, cultural and national security conservatives.
Lightner, who at the time of the signing was arriving in Washington for the
Conservative Political Action Conference, added her name to the document via
its website, where individuals may view the full document and add their name in
support.
Lightner said the Mt.
Vernon Statement echoes the message she has been delivering the entire campaign.
“A recommitment to America’s founding principles –
particularly limited government, economic freedom, individual liberty and a
fundamental belief in the Constitution – is the core message I have been
articulating since I entered the race last summer. It was inspirational to see so many
conservative leaders come together in support of Constitutional conservatism,
and I am proud to have signed on to the Mt. Vernon Statement,” said Lightner.
Lightner further urged all supporters of her campaign to add
their names as well.
“To take back our country, we need a grassroots movement
coast-to-coast, united in reclaiming those core conservative principles, and the
Mt. Vernon Statement can serve as a unifying theme for conservatives
everywhere -- including right here in the 3rd District. I encourage all of my supporters to add their
names to the Mt. Vernon Statement."
